Payment Layer

The Payment Layer provides the economic foundation for value exchange within the BunnyOS Protocol. It enables agents to programmatically initiate and settle payments in a decentralized, trustless manner. Built on top of Coinbase’s x402 payment standard, this layer supports seamless, automated transfers—currently in USDC—that can be embedded directly within execution flows, such as HTTP requests or automated agent actions. This allows for real-time, usage-based billing without requiring human approval.

The Payment Layer powers two critical economic functions: first, it allows the protocol to charge for access to core infrastructure services such as oracle feeds, automation execution, and external data provisioning; second, it enables programmable payment models such as microtransactions, streaming fees, or conditional payouts based on task verification. All payments are enforced at the protocol level, ensuring fairness, transparency, and auditability.

Over time, the Payment Layer will also support the protocol’s native token, unlocking protocol-aligned incentives, governance participation, and staking-based access tiers. This ensures the long-term sustainability of the network while aligning usage with value creation.
